In searching the Web, we've found a couple good places to go for learning more about Kalevala.
- Virtual Finland has a page devoted to the work, with information on its genesis in oral tradition, a summary of its contents and its importance in Finnish culture. (Aino's story as told in the production is poems 3-5 from the complete epic).
- 1999 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of the Kalevala. Here's a link to events surrounding the anniversary
-
Visit the Globe Corner Bookstore to find a copy of the poem in English translation: The Kalevala: An Epic Poem After Oral Tradition by Elias Lönnrot (edited and translated by Keith Bosley)
- An amazon.com direct link to the Bosley translation
- A Kalevala tarot deck
